Edward Fretwell Prichard Jr. was born on January 21, 1915 in Paris, Kentucky in Bourbon County, graduated from Harvard Law School, was active in national politics, clerked for Justice Felix Frankfurter.  He returned to Paris to practice law in 1945. In 1948, Ed stuffed 254 ballots which later resulted in his conviction but was granted clemency by President Truman.  Edward Prichard framed key issues in Kentucky for forty years and that he played a seminal role in state civil rights laws, in controlling strip-mining, and in leading the stateside effort to reform public education. Kentucky Court of Appeals will hear oral arguments for August 2014 addressing some of the following issues:  in a suit against KFBM issues over granting of summary judgment,  wind and water damage coverage, bifurcation of trial,  res judicata, collateral estoppel and more (8/18);  review of trial order finding Kentucky Open Records Act unconstitutional (8/20); writ of prohibition on interlocutory review of district court suppression ruling (8/20);  termination of Kentucky Spirit contracts (8/26);  summary judgment dismissing claims of asbestos contact (8/26); and real property restrictions and tree buffer (8/26).
