Daniel J. Venters was formally sworn in as a justice of the Supreme Court of Kentucky Sept. 8 when he took the oath of office administered by Chief Justice John D. Minton, Jr. Justice Venters was joined in the Supreme Court Courtroom in the Capitol by his wife, attorney Jane Adams Venters (left), his mother, Mary B. Venters (right), and a crowd of family members, friends and professional colleagues.
Gov. Steve Beshear appointed Justice Venters, who has 24 years of judicial experience on the bench of both Circuit Court and District Court, to fill the 3rd Supreme Court District seat vacated by the June retirement of former Chief Justice Joseph E. Lambert. Because the seat is unopposed in the November 2008 general election, Justice Venters will serve for the remainder of the term, which expires in 2010.
