I’ve enjoyed being a lawyer. I’m sorry that there are so many bad jokes about lawyers that are current these days. I don’t think we deserve that. If we have some bad apples in the barrel, we ought to get them out of there. It’s giving us all a bad name. Law and doing right are far more important than making money. Lawyers have always been subject to much criticism. You can go back to the New Testament and find some things that aren’t very complementary. But we wouldn’t have this nation if it weren’t for lawyers. Many of the Founding Fathers were lawyers. I don’t ever apologize for being a lawyer. I’m proud of it, and I hope everybody will be proud of it as the years go by.
