Michael Stevens

Michael Stevens is an experienced trial attorney in personal injury, auto accident, and insurance law litigation.  He has over 80 jury trials and brings a rich and diverse career experience to every case he handles at Isaacs & Isaacs.

In 2012, he was selected by his peers to be a member of Super Lawyers in the areas of personal injury law and insurance law. Kentucky Super Lawyers is an “annual listing of outstanding lawyers who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement”.

Experience that includes serving in the military as an Army Judge Advocate and Military Judge to his career as a trial lawyer for multiple insurance companies, and now representing those who have been injured due to the carelessness and negligence of others.

This unique blend of insight and knowledge into the inner workings of the insurance companies and the way the adjuster reviews and evaluates an insurance claims is unique among lawyer’s representing those injured through the negligence of others in car collisions and automobile accidents, motorcycle collisions, wrongful death cases, “slip and fall” accidents, to name a few.

Michael has a Doctorate of Law degree from Washington & Lee University, School of Law, Lexington, Virginia and graduated with very high honors (magna cum laude) with a Bachelor of Arts Degree fromMarshall University. He also attended the United States  Army’s Judge Advocate Generals School and received a Master’s Degree Equivalent in Military Law.

Michael has been admitted to practice in Kentucky, Virginia and West Virginia. His career highlights include admissions before the United States Supreme Court, U.S. District Courts of West Virginia and Kentucky, U.S. Army Court of Military Review, U.S. Court of Military Appeals, U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims and U.S. Court of Federal Claims and the U.S. Court of Appeals, Fourth and Sixth Circuits.

In addition to representing clients in over 70 jury trials throughout Kentucky, Michael has also protected the interests of his clients at the appeals courts making oral arguments before the Kentucky Court of Appeals, Kentucky Supreme Court, and the United States Court of Appeals for Federal Claims in Washington, D.C.

Among Michael’s present and past professional memberships are the Kentucky Bar Association (Former Member, House of Delegates), the Virginia Bar Association, the West Virginia Bar Association, the Louisville Bar Association, Kentucky Justice Association, American Justice Association, the American Bar Association and the Veterans Consortium Pro Bono Legal Program.

Michael is a proud member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, has written numerous law review articles and has been a speaker at the Kentucky Bar Association and various legal seminars on insurance law, trial technology,  and trial practice in Kentucky.

Michael and Diane

Michael was a soldier, both active duty and the reserves, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel, United States Army Reserve, Judge Advocate Generals Corps, in 2002 after serving over 20 years of honorable service to our country (Honorable Discharge).

Family and community are very important to Michael. He is married to Diane Cox Stevens and they are the parents of four children and have five grandchildren. The Stevens family are members of Northeast Christian Churchin Louisville, Kentucky, and both Michael and Diane serve there as teachers in several classes.

In addition to giving Continuing Legal Education presentations to his fellow lawyers, Michael has taught classes in legal subjects at the University of Louisville and in the military.  He has given his time freely as a member of the Veterans Pro Bono Legal Consortium assisting disabled veterans in their claims based upon service-connected disability and was a Jefferson County, Kentucky judicial candidate receiving endorsements from the Citizens for Better Judges and the Courier-Journal newspaper.
